Why does text copied from a PDF break mid-sentence?

PDFs store each printed line separately, so copying keeps a hard break at the end of every line. This recipe joins them back.

Are paragraphs kept?

Blank lines stay, so pages and spaced paragraphs remain separate. Every single line break inside a block is joined into flowing text.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Scans have no text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then use this recipe on the result.
