What does it find?
Email addresses, phone numbers, payment cards (checked with the Luhn test), IBANs (checked with mod 97), US Social Security, UK National Insurance and other labelled ID numbers, IP addresses, links that carry passwords or tokens, API keys, street addresses and people's names.
Will it catch every name?
Not always. Names are found from lists of common first names and surnames, titles such as Dr. and Ms., greetings, signatures and speaker labels. Check the list and add anything it missed before you share the text.
Does the AI still understand the text?
Usually, yes. Each placeholder stands for one value everywhere it appears, so [NAME_1] stays the same person throughout, and the reply reads naturally once the originals are back.
Can I restore the text later?
Yes. Save the key as a small JSON file and load it any time to turn placeholders back into the originals. Anyone with the key can read the originals, so keep it safe.
