Frequently asked questions
Which formats can it open?
ZIP and ZIPX, 7Z, RAR 4 and RAR 5, TAR with GZ, BZ2, XZ or ZST, single GZ, BZ2, XZ and ZST files, ISO, CAB, CPIO, XAR, LHA and DEB.
Can it open password-protected archives?
Yes for ZIP, including AES-256. Password-protected 7Z and RAR archives are not supported yet.
Is there a size limit?
Archives of any size open. In Chrome and Edge you can extract straight into a folder with no limit; other browsers hold about 2 GB of extracted files at once.
Is it safe to open an archive I downloaded?
Nothing inside is ever run. Paths that try to escape the folder are renamed, links are skipped, and zip bombs are stopped before they fill memory.
